Leads FAQ

What is a lead, and how is it different from a contact?
A lead is a raw prospect before any relationship exists. When it qualifies you convert it into an account/contact (or creator/vendor) via Convert actions, or straight into its first deal via Promote to Deal — the lead itself stays as the source record.
Which fields are required when creating a lead?
Only First name is required. Email, phone, and mobile are optional but recommended: the queue header counts leads without any contact info, so empty fields keep those leads flagged.
What do the lead statuses mean?
Leads move through Open, Contacted, Nurture, Replied, Qualified, Converted, or Lost. Converted means the lead was turned into another record type; Lost closes it out.
Why can I only see some of the team's leads?
Your role's leads permission has an access level. With "own" scope you only see leads you created; "all" scope shows everything. The same rule applies to the queue filters Mine vs Unassigned.
What happens downstream when I convert or promote a lead?
Promote to Deal creates the organization, contact, and first deal in one transaction and links them back to the lead. Convert to Contact/Creator/Vendor creates just that record. All conversions need leads edit permission plus create access on the target modules.
When is a lead considered "stale" in the header stats?
A lead is stale when it has no recorded activity in the last 7 days or was never touched. The header KPIs count stale, unassigned, and missing-contact-info leads across all matching rows, not just the loaded page.
