Lifecycles FAQ

What is a lifecycle?
A governed stage machine for one record type: versioned stages, allowed transitions, and boards. Seeded examples include deal-close and campaign-delivery.
Who can create or change definitions?
Only users with settings:manage, in Settings → Lifecycles (Lifecycle Studio). Changes are versioned, so in-flight records keep their behavior.
Why is a transition button unavailable?
Enter/transition gating enforces the definition — prerequisites (checklist items, required actions, prior stages) must be satisfied first.
Can I uncheck a workbench checklist item?
No — completions are append-only evidence. If something was completed in error, record the correction in activity/comments rather than unchecking.
Where do I see what happened?
Lifecycle Events streams every transition with record, stage, command, and correlation search plus a downstream-consumer inspector.
