Timesheets FAQ

How does timesheet approval work?
Entries move through three statuses: draft → submitted → approved. You edit or delete only your own draft entries, submit them for approval, and managers approve. Submitted/approved entries are locked.
What are the rules for hours?
Each entry is between 0.25 and 24 hours, in quarter-hour steps, for a single date, with a category: billable, internal, admin, training, or pto (default billable). Entries can reference a task, deal, or organization.
Can I log time for someone else?
Only users whose timesheets access level is "all" can pass another user's id to the list view. With "own" scope, viewing anyone else's entries returns "Manager role required".
What do managers get that I don't?
Manager-only surfaces are utilization per person (billable vs internal hours and utilization %) and deal cost — labor cost computed from each person's loaded cost rate. Both sit behind the timesheets manage (delete) permission because they expose salary-derived data.
Why do my entries disappear from edit after submitting?
They don't disappear — update/delete only match rows still in draft status with your user id, so submitted rows become read-only by design until a manager acts on them.
